At Rebirth Advanced Healing, every sales representative doesn’t just talk the talk. We also walk the walk. As Wound Care Sales Professional Certified reps, we understand chronic wounds, speak the language of clinicians, and help patients and families get the care they deserve.
I’m Lilly Whitley, Regional Sales Manager for the state of Texas at Rebirth Advanced Healing. I’m also a dietitian with a passion for nutrition and taking a “root cause approach.” We take a similar approach at Rebirth, placing emphasis on finding the root cause of wounds and tailoring the best-possible care plan. That same mindset ultimately attracted me to this company.
But let’s be honest: In this industry (and other sectors of healthcare), it’s not uncommon to meet a sales rep who knows their quota better than they know the difference between necrotic and granulated tissue.
That’s why every sales rep at Rebirth is Wound Care Sales Professional (WCSP) Certified.
What Is a WCSP Certification?

The Wound Care Sales Professional Certification (WCSP-C) is basically our “language school” for wound care. Over the course of an 8-hour training, our sales team learns the fundamentals of wound care, the terminology providers use every day, and how to confidently speak the same clinical language as the nurses and doctors on our clinical team.
Here’s the thing: If we’re going to walk into a wound care center and provide updates or talk through patient progress, we can’t just wing it. We need to know what necrotic tissue means, why granulation is good news, and how to communicate clearly and efficiently with the clinical team. And that’s exactly what this certification covers.
For us at Rebirth Advanced Healing, it’s not just about having a “badge” or a line on LinkedIn. It’s about making sure every single patient-facing professional is prepared, credible, and respected in front of the providers we work with. That extra layer of training builds trust and sets us apart from a typical sales rep who only cares about their quota.
What Rebirth Reps Actually Learn About Wound Care

So what does this certification actually teach us? It’s hands-on, practical knowledge that helps us walk into any wound care center with confidence.
Anatomy Basics & Wound Healing Phases
We are most definitely NOT doctors or nurses, but we need to understand how wounds heal and why they sometimes don’t. This gives us the background to understand provider conversations without feeling completely in the dark.
Wound Types, Causes, and Management Strategies
From pressure injuries to diabetic foot ulcers, we learn what causes them and the general strategies used to treat them. That way, we know how our products fit into the bigger picture of patient care.
Debridement Methods (and Why It Matters For Grafting)
This was a huge “aha!” moment for me personally. Understanding how removing dead tissue sets the stage for healing (and ultimately for grafting) helps us appreciate why timing is everything.
Wound Dressings & Antimicrobial Use
Not all dressings are created equal. We learn which ones are used, why certain antimicrobial options are chosen, and how those choices impact healing outcomes.
Medicare Reimbursement for Wound Care
The clinical side is vitally important, but the reimbursement side is just as critical. We learn how Medicare views wound care and why proper documentation and approvals make or break access to these advanced therapies.
Professional, Patient-First Communication
This might be the most important piece of all. We’re not here to sell;we’re there to serve. That means learning how to listen to providers, anticipate their needs, and communicate in a way that makes their job easier, not harder.
Why This All Matters for Home Health Agencies
So, why does it matter that every Rebirth rep is WCSP-certified? Simple: It makes life much easier for our home health partners.
When you’re already stretched thin managing wound patients, the last thing you need is a sales rep who doesn’t understand the basics. Working with a WCSP-certified rep means fewer headaches and smoother referrals. Here’s how:
Faster Conversations
You don’t waste time re-explaining what a stage 3 ulcer is or why debridement was done last week. We already speak the language, which means updates are quicker and more efficient.
Fewer Mistakes
Because we understand referral criteria, things like the 28-day documentation, infection clearance, and reimbursement rules, we can catch potential issues before they derail a referral. That saves everyone time and frustration.
Better Clinical Alignment
Here’s a real-world example: If a home health provider says, “This wound is pretty necrotic — do you think you’ll be able to take it?” We understand exactly what they’re describing.
Or if a home health nurse calls and says a certain patient is purulent, we know what that means in plain terms. That doesn’t mean we’re the ones making the clinical decision, because that ALWAYS rests with the provider, but it does mean we can follow the conversation, respond appropriately, and move the referral process forward without slowing things down.
Stronger Partnerships
At the end of the day, this is what it’s all about. WCSP training allows us to save staff time, reduce referral drop-offs, and build real trust with the teams we work alongside.
Rebirth’s Commitment to Healing
At the end of the day, we are sales representatives. But at Rebirth, it’s never just about the sale. It’s about making the referral process smoother, supporting our clinical team, and ultimately helping patients heal. That’s why we invest in training every rep to understand the language of wound care.
So, the next time you meet with a Rebirth representative, you can be confident you’re talking to someone who understands your world, and is committed to making your job easier, not harder.
